Moving for work, where is the best place to look for accommodation?

For the first time in my life, I have to deal with a job-related move, as there's currently a shortage of people in my area in the region. Perhaps someone knows about this, or has had to do it themselves. The question is, where is the best place to look (I personally only know eBay classifieds on which portal), and, more importantly, what exactly is it for? Since I'm only moving for work, it can only be in the direction of a shared room, a room for construction workers, or some kind of hostel, or is there another alternative? The only thing that's important to me is that I can cancel at any time; otherwise, I would have found myself a one-room apartment. Thank you very much.
