Retraining as a carpenter?
Hello
I am now 46 and would like to try to retrain as a carpenter next year, as I am not fully occupied in my current job and carpentry is a dream of mine.
Will I still receive funding for such retraining from the employment office or job center, or not?
Based on your description, my assessment is rather not.
The employment agencies and job centers finance Umschukugen i.d.R. only if the person concerned can no longer carry out their profession or if retraining completed successfully improves the chances of the person concerned on the labour market (significant).
Being unloaded is probably not enough.
Why don’t you make a roommate training? Perhaps the training period can be shortened after consultation with the Chamber of Crafts.
Thank you for the answer.
Because of an apprenticeship to the carpenter, I have already informed myself – at the Chamber of Crafts – they told me that a retraining would come into question with me.
Of course, I’d have to find a company where I’m practically working.
It is only difficult, as some firms do not want to take the risk of training costs. Probably because of my age.
I’ll keep looking until I found a company ready for training for me.
