Does the car dealer cover MOT costs if the vehicle is still under warranty?
Good day,
About two months ago, I took my vehicle (Hyundai, model year 2019) to the MOT because a new MOT was necessary. A significant defect (defective vibration damper) was discovered, which is why I didn't receive the MOT sticker. I was supposed to return to the MOT for another inspection within a month. After consulting a Hyundai workshop, the vibration damper is covered by the warranty and will be covered by the Hyundai workshop. Unfortunately, the delivery time for the defective part was longer than a month, and now I had to pay the full MOT cost again at the MOT (€139). Can I now claim the money for the second MOT from the dealer due to the warranty claim?
Thank you very much for your answers.
Since the guarantee is a voluntary service, the guarantor himself can determine which agreements he agrees with you.
It will probably not have been guaranteed that any defects could not occur on the vehicle and that there will be definitely any HU, but only that it will be liable for any defects that have occurred, which are found, for example, in a HU.
The subsequent control by the TÜV is one of the duties of the driver, so you will probably have bad cards if you want to request these costs – especially if the dealer has no fault at the end of the post-control period due to long delivery times.
You better ask dealers.
