Elvanse contains the active ingredient Lisdexamfetamin (LDX) and is a drug for the treatment of ADHD. The amphetamine with controlled release of active substance is strongly simplified.

The max. Daily dose is 70mg. 3x40mg or 120 mg are therefore technically an overdose. How to react to this depends, among other things, on the degree of tolerance development (conciliation effect).

In the case of an overdose, the side effects already mentioned in the package insert can intensify. Additional possible acute symptoms such as…

  • restlessness/agitation/internal rest/internal tension
  • trembling (Tremor)
  • Increased reflexes (hyperreflection)
  • Accelerated breathing
  • states of confusion
  • Aggressiveness
  • Hallucinations
  • Panic attacks
  • Heat beat (hyperpyrexia)
  • rhabdomyolysis
  • Heart rhythm disorders
  • High blood pressure
  • Circular collapse
  • nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Belly cramps
  • In extreme cases: epileptic seizures, coma, death

In the event of a declining action:

  • Tiredness
  • Depressive detunements
  • Drivelessness
  • Fear states
  • Greadiness
  • Hunger attacks

The max. Plasma concentration is achieved at LDX (Elvanse) after about 2-4 hours. The effect then decreases – albeit very slowly – and thus also the risk of symptoms of overdose. However, the total duration of the action is estimated up to about 12 hours.

since you acknowledge that you regularly take this medication, you will have developed a certain tolerance. Nonetheless, you should not underestimate overdose.

it will be stopped that you can perceive increased side effects and in the usual case that could be a little psychotic. Where two to three times overdose you will have the standard side effects, rather than psychotic symptoms.

nothing the more, I recommend you close with your doctor. Apparently, it’s not the first time and if you keep pampering your body and you need this as a fixed dose at some point. This is neither good nor sensible.

Why don’t you ask your doctor who prescribed this medicine to you?

Since this preparation has only been available on prescription since July 2013, your doctor will not only have issued the prescription, but also have informed you how to take it. Or are you talking about drug abuse? Then you should get professional help and not ask for possible effects.)

Then I’d talk to the doctor who prescribed that to you. You have to be honest. It’s about your health.
