U18 diving, Mallorca?

Hello dear community,

Since I'm going to Mallorca with friends this summer and we want to go diving, I wanted to ask if you know what the process is for a parent or guardian's signature. We're flying there in August, and I'll only be turning 18 in September. Does a parent or guardian have to be present, or is a simple signature sufficient?

Thank you for your answers!

You have already read below that diving requires appropriate training and certification. In addition, a TTU or self-explaint must be completed in Spain and an insurance is also mandatory (can be completed at the diving base for the diving days). On the basis of these conditions, you can see diving without a diving base i.d.R. in Spain is not so easy for beginners.

My recommendation is, in principle, to make the appearance in Germany and then to enjoy diving on holiday. But if you want to make the appearance in Mallorca, you have to take a little time (lasts a few days). It makes sense to get in touch with the desired diving base in advance (being under 18). Usually you will send the registration form by e-mail and you can then just fill it in and sign it by a parent. If you are nearby, I can recommend the Petrodrivers diving base in Porto Petro. These are nice, reliable and the prices are reasonable.

But before you sign up for a course, it might make sense to take part in a sniff diving. Diving is not something for everyone. And it’s better to figure out if you’re lying. You can also dive in practical every diving base and also in almost every club here in Germany.

You should not just go diving, but, if you are not yet certified, take a course with SSI, PADI ore and take the appropriate exercises and exams.

As far as I know, there must be a declaration of consent from parents to minors.

If your parents don’t come along, I would let them pass through them in advance, in a form that is understandable and unambiguous for the dive resort.

Ggfs. then read the agreement as a student as PDF to your parents with the request to return it signed. This is a common practice in business life, so I could imagine that it could also work at the dive resort.

You don’t just go dive. Too dangerous.
