Two part-time jobs, one mini-job?

Hello, I wanted to ask what it's like if I have 3 jobs.

I am currently doing a mini-job 538 €

But next week I'm starting a second part-time job with about 20 hours per week. That would be around €1,100 gross.

And if I now do a third part-time job for 15 hours, it will be €850 gross.

What about the tax classes then, the one with 20 hours tax class 1 and the one with 15 hours tax class 6?

Or what about the income tax? Do you have to pay it back when you file your tax return? Because you actually pay quite a lot of income tax in tax bracket 6.

I just don't want to have to pay back hundreds of euros😅

My fuel costs are €200 a month, which I can also declare on my tax return. If that's important in any way.

Thank you very much😊

How is that with the tax classes, with 20 hours tax class 1 and with 15 hours tax class 6?

This depends on which employer registers as the main employer. The main employer has the tax class 1 and the others the tax class 6. As the main employer, each employer can first register independently of the number of hours or the gross amount. That is why it should be discussed in advance with his employer that he is only a secondary worker.

Or what about the pay tax, then you have to pay back for the tax return?

Usually yes. Therefore, there is also a duty to pay the tax return.

because you pay relatively much wage tax on tax class 6

But relatively little for the tax on the total.

Example? See Gross net calculator with yours:

Only 1 job with 1950 gross: monthly wage tax 97 €.

2 jobs: 1.100 € tax class 1 = 0 € tax + 1 850 € tax class 6 = wage tax 93 €.

So you pay 4 € monthly wage tax (93 € instead of 97 €) less compared if you have only 1 main job with the same gross wage overall.

I didn't find any recent Copy & Paste explanation, but only a three-year-old on the web, so the numbers would still have to be checked for the release of the year 2024.

"An important allowance is, for example, the so-called "basic allowance" which is already included in the tariff. This is 9,744 euros in 2021, which means: Income up to EUR 9,744 Tax payable on: 0 Euro.

You can find the allowances for the YEAR 2024 here:

I know that your question is only partially answered, but my answer is for you to think about how many hours you are willing to work for a comparatively small amount of additional income after tax.

I have 200€ per month, which I can also provide for tax returns

In my knowledge you can specify driven km, but not the fuel costs yourself.

And you can’t have several different tax classes for different jobs…
