Twitch donations via PayPal?

Hello, I sent money to a streamer via PayPal using the donation button on Twitch. I entered my Twitch username. Now I received an email notification that I sent money to the streamer's PayPal address. The status was "not booked," so I canceled immediately because I didn't want the streamer to receive a notification with my name and correct PayPal address. I'm confused now. I thought the money would first go to Twitch, then anonymously (or with my Twitch username) to the streamer, and not directly to the streamer's PayPal account?

Does the donation really go to Twitch first, and then Twitch pays the streamer? Or does it go directly to the streamer? I'm confused because my PayPal transaction went to the streamer's PayPal address and not to Twitch.

If it was sent directly to the streamer, will they be notified? I canceled before the payment was debited.
