Tuning?
Hello, I'm 16 now and in 10th grade.
Over the last 2 to 3 years I have developed a great affection for cars, even though I was not a car fan at all before and had no interest in them.
I'm interested in a lot of things related to cars, but more in the technical area, and I'd like to learn more about them, or rather, learn more about cars in general, especially their construction. So, if any of you have any good ideas on how I can currently acquire this mechanical knowledge, perhaps not just in the "repair" area but also in the area of tuning, regardless of whether it's "just" the bodywork or also affects performance.
My idea was to do an internship at a workshop that deals with such topics, but I'd like to start such an internship with such inexperience. Does anyone know of any decent "conversion/tuning" workshops in my area? I'm from North Rhine-Westphalia (Bochum). Or do you have any ideas on how I can get input other than just through YouTubers like JP Performance or similar?
Thank you very much in advance!
The idea is good, you should do what makes a fun 😊
However, you also need to understand the technology and the basics for the tuning skills. You can’t do engines if you don’t know how everything works.
Why don’t you ask Brabus? It’s in Bottrop. I’m sure it’s not easy to get in there, but maybe you can do an internship and look at everything. They do everything, engines suspension exhaust body.
If you need reading material, look at kfz-tech for example, a lot of technology is explained in a comprehensible way
How old are you and what are you doing professionally? No, you don’t have to answer me. But if you can make an education a mechanic, do it! You can only benefit.
I’m 16 and pupils in the 10. Great, I have a voluntary pupil internship at Easter 2024.
Let’s go! And I still recommend this test here. He gives you the profession you are really suitable for. And then compare the result with your car desire.

The internship is a top idea… even that you think about your future is worth a lot. Vehicle technology and tuning is like a scissor that can go completely apart and be in the same but also close together. For tuning, the technique and the process must understand. And that only learns with experience over a long period.
Tuning itself is different today like earlier, the classic tuning consists in machining the mechanism i.e. when the engine starts at the bottom, it starts with the crankshaft then other pleul and pistons will be dismantling the head,- and/or the hull removed on the cylinder optimierst the combustion chambers polishing the channels make even more “sharp camshaft” pure and when more out is supposed to be vergas The exhaust gas outflow is optimized with a fan manifold.
Today’s tuning is mainly to reach the electronic components, more busy programming the control units and charging them with turbochargers.
The tunings then have common features for suspensions and brakes, because if more power is needed better brakes and other or reinforced chassis components
