Stay loyal or lease a new car?
How long have you been driving your car? Is it important for you to change cars every two to three years, or are you loyal to the same one? And what kind of car do you drive? Year of manufacture, horsepower?
For example, I've been driving a VW Golf Mk3 for almost four years. I just got my MOT two months ago. I have a 1998 model with an automatic transmission and 110 hp, and it's still in working order. Everything was rusted and removed.
I'm still considering whether I should lease a car or just stick with my Golf Mk3. What would you do? Do you have any experience with leasing? Would you recommend it or not? Unfortunately, financing is very difficult; I can only afford leasing. A maximum of €250-300 per month.
Leasing is not recommended for private users – the rates are tempting, but at the end every small scratch / every trace of use is billed and it is expensive. I have experienced a lot in my environment.
The Golf III is also very reliable and if it’s still halfway good, I’d just keep driving until what is more expensive or the TÃœV no longer wants it. The risk of serious technical problems is low even in the case of an automatic system, and financially it is anyway bullshit to give up now – you get nix more for, and there is a lot to get in the new TÃœV. You never get that in again – and if the golf runs well, it’s great.
I’m driving an Audi 80 with 90 hp, which I bought as a stunned reindeer car for 800 euros – it’s a bit older, but similarly solid as Golf III. Of course, it is not always pleasant in the summer to be on the go without air conditioning, but the Audi 80 is always going to arrive at the end, and the 1.8S is also very economical and powerful – which can be very fluttered if necessary, remains pleasantly quiet (you can talk in it and the radio does not have to be turned excessively loud) and is very robust. I don’t think about “cool” cars and like reliability – I’d take a good Golf III right away. These are the best cars if you just want to be mobile.
I’m driving a lot. Often more than 50,000 km a year. I’m always looking to get rid of the cars after 4-5 years, because then the repairs usually go. Unfortunately, the engines are becoming smaller and for this, with turbochargers highly grown to a lot of power. They don’t stand for 200,000 km.
I’d rather have a high-lift car that I can drive in the lower speed range and then I can expect 400 to 500,000 km, just as I had earlier. But environmental/economy makes such reasonable cars impossible. So I need to change faster, which doesn’t make the overall balance better.
I have my cars for a long time. A new car doesn’t come into question for me.
I would be annoying by constant interventions of assistance systems or any beepser. My 99 middle class limo has everything I need and no more. You could re-enroll the golf on season mark(summer) and drive a newer box in everyday and winter.
I’ve never bought a car myself in my life. My first car was sponsored by Daddy. My second car was my father’s car, which he gave me to move. The third car was a preferred inheritance payment (due to inheritance tax). After that, I had no car for 11 years until I inherited my father’s car. This car has gone the way of all the Indians three years ago, now I’m sharing a car with my husband. He just needs it for work, I only need it for leisure. That’s pretty good.
Our next car will probably be an e-combi.
Hi.
I think Leasing is great. Every 1-3 years you have a new car with no TÃœV costs (as long as you don’t take more than 3 years in Leasing).
Normally, you have a new car that rarely encounters problems. You pay a lot of money every month, but that’s definitely worth it. I used to have my own car for a long time… I can’t imagine it by now. It is great to know that you can get a new car every year and drive and the registrations always take over the car house. When it comes to damage is of course expensive at the end, but you can drive carefully:D
I really recommend leasing! 🙂

I have an Astra G 1.6 Caravan 23 years old and a Vectra C Turbo, 19 years old. Both perfectly and with new TÃœV. I’m going to drive them as long as I can, and I don’t want to grow the costs over my head. No motor-driven vehicle can be more sustainable.

Leasing was never a topic for me privately!
