Transport when moving (to another country)?

So, I want to move to Japan. Here's the problem: I have a collection of books and would like to take them with me. Does anyone know the best way to transport something like that (if possible)? Or can I avoid paying a fee that's higher than the value of the books? I don't know much about flying, but as far as I know, my suitcase can only be a certain weight.

Welcome to the club, I also live on the island 😉

Of course, such a move is very expensive and in Japan the space ratios are very limited, so I just arrived with "storm baggage". These were three shipments with DHL with almost 20 kg each, which went on the sea way and a total of 4 suitcases and travel bags each 23kg on the airway. Two were included in the ticket, the other two I added to the ticket online in advance, then this is in a reasonable setting.

Depends entirely on the volume of the book collection. If it is so small that it fits in a few boxes or offered, just take/transmit.

If more is, you have to ask for the prices for various forwardings.

We moved last year, not to Japan, but to Panama. We took 2 containers and let our household (including books) transport them. It also costs about 50000 euros.

I'd pack in packages and send them by mail. Otherwise, there is also the possibility to book further suitcases, is only the question of what is cheaper in the end.

The best way to send luggage by mail/package, or by plane.
