Training or high school diploma?
Hey,
I'm 18 years old and currently training to be a social work assistant. (I'm currently repeating the second year.)
But I'm realizing how stupid I'm feeling during my training. I get a stomachache every day when I think about work. It's not healthy. I know that.
However, I still have the option of accepting a business school to get my high school diploma. To do so, I would have to discontinue my studies. I'll get a call from the lady tomorrow, and then everything will be decided.
But I'm just totally unsure whether I should do this. Even if this sounds stupid and childish, I'm on the verge of a panic attack again, and I feel so alone.
Hello rrs2005
I would get my Abitur (university entrance qualification). You're only 18 years old, so everything's still open to you. It's too early to be sure about a specific training program or anything like that. With your Abitur, many more doors will be open to you, and you can also study.
Over the next 2-3 years, you will continue to develop and become more certain about where you want your life to lead.
Greetings Paul
But I really feel like a failure; the last two years would have been for nothing.
Does it bother me? I also studied for a year and dropped out. I had to repeat the seventh grade. That, too, theoretically lost me two years.
You haven't wasted those years. You've gained experience. You know what they like and what they don't. There are people who don't start studying until they're 25. You have all the time in the world. Don't stress yourself out. Take it easy π
My gut feeling is now also desperate with meπ
There's no right decision. You'll have doubts no matter what you do. That's normal. Follow your gut.
I definitely want to get rid of my current training. I think I'll do it, but this feeling of discomfort again will probably haunt me until then.
It just depends on whether it's okay with you. It's your life, you can do whatever you want. I just told you what I would do if I were you.
Are you sure this is okay?
Were there reasons why you started the training or not?
You have to make a plan for what you want and pursue it consistently. Who says you'll like high school? Because then there's a risk that you'll drop out again.
That's it.
Back then, I did the apprenticeship because I enjoyed it. Everything changed after I changed schools.
I would complete the training. If you still want to, you can get your high school diploma there.
Drop out of your training if it's not good for you. Do what interests you. If you don't know what that is yet, find out.
Hey, I saw you – I posted the same thing a few days ago, but deactivated the account because weird people were writing to me.
Thanks for your answer – I've calmed down a bit now π
