Too long a journey for a business trip during a probationary period?

Good evening everyone,

My problem in brief:

I've been at a new company since the beginning of this year. It was clear that I would have to attend conferences. The problem is that a conference was planned that would require a 2.5-hour drive each way for three days. The colleague who was supposed to be there has booked a personal trip, so she won't be there and won't reschedule.

Now I've been asked. But the fact that I have to get up at 3 am, drive 2.5 hours, work until 9 pm and back again, for three whole days, is already making me anxious.

The company is fair, so I could take overtime days, but after a few tough years, I'm no longer able to do that.

Based on my professional experience over the last few years, I would like to decline, as otherwise things will fall apart right from the start and I simply won't be able to do what I did in my mid-40s in my mid-20s.

What would you do?

I ask for answers without criticism or anything like that, because I simply don't know what to do next.

Thank you in advance

Clear how it looks with overnight stays. In the distance and more than one day actually byus usual that you stay there somewhere.

Would the colleague really have been on a daily basis? I can't imagine.

I think we're worth something. I'd say a very clear no. And if the boss doesn't accept it, there are other companies. I don't care what the agency for work would say. Like I said, I'm worth more.

I think someday you'll get to an age where you don't have to let yourself down.

I can imagine that soon anyone – oops – is on vacation. And then you're a lobster. – A time willing – always willing?

"What would you do?"

With employers, I can book an overnight stay on site, of course.

"Unfortunately, there is no budget to book a room."

Then the employer had bad luck. If you work until 9:00 and then you have to stand on the mat at half past 7 in the morning, this is a violation of the statutory rest period. If you build an accident on the way for fatigue and that with the violation of working time regulations, there may be problems with the trade union

For the rest: The sample time is a two-sided thing. If the employer imposes unreasonable conditions, it does not exist this period of rehearsal.

These arrivals and travel times are not reasonable, you should already have a hotel room there. This is completely normal and usual

I'd stay there. I'm sure that's the case in the industry.
