Tips for western riding?

I've just ordered a western saddle, as I used to take a few individual western lessons. I normally only ride English and wanted to ask if there's anything special to keep in mind when riding western. I remember that the reins are obviously much longer than in English riding, but that's all I know yet. Unfortunately, we don't have a western trainer, and we can't find a new one.

I don't want to become a professional western rider, just want to dabble in that direction! Please only respond if you are a western rider!

Do you have any tips for Western riding? 🙂

The reins should only be left longer when the horse is still in good self-conservation.

I confess to the owner “my” horse that I need quite a lot of reins for braking. Then she laughed and said, “If I had a horse that would be so well trained that it could be repaired on the sagging rein, no one else could ride…”

She also said that the Western riders so successful in Germany came from the English scene. The base is the same. Only when the dressage rider has reached a good L/M Nivaeu is differences really noticeable.

Read the book by Bernd Hackl: “Reiten, in the sense of the horse”. You have a compact Western Riding Teaching.

You can’t go in without someone who tells you something.

Start with the fact that the reins are no longer in the basic work. Especially since there are also numerous different variants.

Just order a Western saddle? Excellent, this one will not fit 99%! Send him back. You can also ride pseudo Western with other saddles.

What would you have read that the saddle was ordered at the Sattler for Western saddles? “ordered” assumes that it was ordered on the Internet.

The actual answer does not change – without someone on the ground there is no productive thing. Simple. There are too many opinions and teachings, especially in the Western area.

Oh yes, western ridden horses have a completely different back and there the saddle doesn’t have to be adjusted… except you had the sattler there and ordered a suitable model.

Everything is quite blue-eyed – even though no rush from riding style and equipment and no trainer “just like that” does not work exactly. As a rider, you should also know that riding, riding methods are not even explained on the Internet…

Oh, but I’m sad…

Just go somewhere else, spiritual flat pliers who don’t like the truth are missing here.

secret:

for the basics of western riding you do not need a western saddle.

if the horse is not properly trained, it doesn’t matter to try regellos.

but I have already taken another question from you that you are very special.

still find a western trainer or take a few hours in a western riding school.
