Tie up a heavy/thick horse's tail?
Hello everyone 👋🏼 So, my rental horse (a Haflinger gelding) doesn't like getting into horse trailers, so we're having trailer training soon. The last time we were unloading, he stepped on his tail and pulled out a lot of long hair 🙁 but his owner doesn't want to trim his tail anymore. (He has a long and very thick tail with a lot of hair). Now I want to get his tail out of the way for the next trailer training, and I've already tied a knot in it, but it undid itself after 10 minutes…then I looked up these Vaquero knots online, but to be honest, I don't really understand them, and it's too much work for me. Does anyone have a quick and easy way to get the tail out of the way? It doesn't have to look particularly nice, it's just to prevent him from stepping on his tail while being loaded
You could just split the whole tail into 3 strands and weave it down normally. This usually shortens more than thought. If that's not enough for you, fix the whole "fold up" and, for example, by bandaging (smoothing).
There are also such “smooth bags” to buy for driving. They could go.
IMPORTANT: This should only be thought for half an hour of hanging training and is nothing for the long term. After the suspension training, do everything again.
Hello Horseloove,
Have you ever tried to braid his tail? After you braided it and you realized that he could still stand on, you can try to make half of the hover in a “dark”.
If this doesn't work, you can either search on Youtube for hairstyles for the horse or make the owner aware that you would do a favor to the horse.
Greetings!
Try a cowtail holder.
