The ten dimensions mentioned in string theory?
Hello,
My father and I have been racking our brains for some time now about string theory, or rather how strings are supposed to extend through a 10-dimensional space.
What are the ten dimensions?
This is how far we have come: 0. Point; 1. Line; 2. Surface; 3. Body; 4. Space, velocity
This is what we suspect: 5. Since space is infinitely curved, the 5th dimension would be if one merged at one point and that was stretched infinitely.
Okay, that's a very difficult question, and there will probably be multiple "answers." So I guess I'm just looking for food for thought and the like?
These dimensions are a mathematical construct and emerge from it. This does not mean that it must be real, and even then you could not imagine what it should look like, as you are trapped in the 4 dimensions of our reality.
Furthermore, there is also the dimension 0 which corresponds to a point.
4 space-time dimensions, the 6 remaining dimensions are small and compacted in the Calabi-Yau variety (Kaluza-Klein-Kompaktifikation der String-Theorien)
All dimensions are spatial dimensions and a realistic idea of this is NOT possible. You don’t have to bend your head.
Whatever you think is just bullshit, because man is trapped in three dimensions.
Whether there are really higher dimensions or this is only practical in the model can not be said anyway.
