The iPad jack got wet in my bag this morning. What should I do?

Hi everyone, something bad happened to me this morning. I went to the garage to get my scooter to go to school and noticed that my backpack was wet. I thought about what it could be and emptied the backpack straight away, but my iPad was already wet. I then went back home and took some paper towels and dried the charging connection very carefully and gently. I was careful that none of the paper got stuck. Then I carefully dried the jack connection. I know that it isn't completely dry, but my 8th generation iPad thinks that I have wired headphones connected and that's been the case for an hour. Is it broken now or do I just have to let it dry or is there any way to deactivate it?

PS: I have NOT connected the iPad to charge but it is switched on which I did this morning to check if it is still "alive"

Thanks in advance

where should the moisture come from?

If it wasn’t in the rain or… only the battery can be the source.
It is unlikely that electrolyte capacitors produce such a thing in such small devices.
