The BIOS does not recognize my SSD hard drive?

Hello, my dears,

I spent hours copying my HDD to an SSD. After swapping it into the case, the computer won't boot.

Will a BIOS update help? Or should I copy the HDD again using different software? Thanks for any helpful answers.

Hello my dear,

I’ll type the conversion of the hard drive is wrong. So there are UEFI GPT and Legacy MBR. It can be his computer only Legacy supports your BIOS.

( Legacy is the replacement BIOS)

There are many ways to do this. Is there any way in your bio to change the boat to UEFI?

Alternatively, the old HDD in and with a TOOL check which conversion the disks have. And then convert the SSD to GPT or MBR, depending on what the HDD has. But I would still check in the BIOS whether there is the possibility to activate the UEFI boat.

Hope I could help you. With such a subject, one prefers to sit before it.

EDIT: To connect the other answers. It would of course be very important to know how you copied or cloned.

Best regards

Copy doesn’t go. You need to clone the HDD on the SSD.

O

THE can NOT BE

If then you have to clone the HDD on the SSD

I wouldn’t clone the Windows HDD when she runs…

Better a live system!

So in 99.99% of cases works with the tool

But can every SO do as he wants, clearo

I’ve cloned thousands of systems, but I’ve never been running OS. You don’t want to understand the note, so it doesn’t matter. I lack the pleasure and time to discuss it.

What kind of attitude? That I’ll take back on such a clontool?

Doesn’t speak to me, hadn’t had any problems yet, before using Win, clone, then manually installing the drivers. System control finished

I’ll use… 3-4 times a year, otherwise it’s done differently

Right! And that’s why they’re at least. 50-60% of IT technicians no more. If I look at how many IT companies don’t even manage to keep their Schmarrn safe and are overwhelmed with things like WordPress updates, then I don’t want to know what’s going on with their customers.

Of course it wasn’t for you.

But that fits somehow – the customers usually have so little idea anyway that they don’t get how to get around and to the need you have to make the box again a few months later.

As I said, I have no understanding. I can’t understand any worse mistakes, but the attitude of you. I’m someone who does something either neat or not at all…

Oh, yeah. Too complicated, you should do something that is not shown in 99.99% of all YT tutorials.

Sure – why do something clean when it comes to 2893 errors, the system then also has enough reasons to smear or become unstable at some point.

Driving down and booting from the stick is so much harder!

For my customers, only the safest and best option is very special if this only means 1 minute extra effort. But everyone like ER wants. Get out.

For the Otto Normalo, who wants to press for a new installation, it is enough;)

Most tools get it – but just compare 2 cloned disks – a live cloned and one in the switched-off state.

As I said.. You can do it, but the tool will get it because it’s a shadow copy of the system.

That’s clear – only if you do that in live mode you don’t get certain data pussies. In particular, various outsourced registry issues that can then be missing and troubled.

That’s why I would recommend a USB stick with a live system.

So with Win10 not really had problems yet, even when changing from AMD to Intel. Depending on the type of driver, you have to hand in hand, but faster than a new installation, especially when exotic programs are installed with settings and everything

The question is just how stable it is going after. From Forensik tools, I know what problems the cloning makes in this way…

But can every SO do as he wants, clearo

So do I. It was just a little hint. 😉

The question is how you copied it.

A sensible cloning program that is also suitable for this is one thing.

Just ask me a few questions…

  1. Is the SSD detected in the bios?
  2. How did you copy the data?
  3. How did you connect the SSD?
