Thailand trip stopover China visa?

Hello,

We're flying to Thailand soon and have to change planes in China (Chengdu). I read online that you need a visa with a temporary passport. Does that also apply to the approximately 8-hour layover? I know you don't need a visa with a regular passport, but what about a temporary passport? Does anyone know?

Thank you in advance 🙂

Hey, I’m just reading your question here. Just the same problem we just have…. I only heard this with the visa at provisional passport and we’re flying on 2.3. So slowly I get panic. How should we get to a Chinese visa so quickly? Above all, we do not want to spend holidays in China, but we have an intermediate stop there. .I would be happy to answer it. LG

Hello dear Steffi, how was it with you now? Do you have a solution? With me is exactly the same problem and nobody, really nobody can help me… would be great if you would answer me🥹

Foreign nationals travelling via plane, ship or train via China to a third country or region may stay visa-free in China for up to 24 hours.

Applies only with passport, not for the preliminary.

This applies to every travel pass.

Yes, this applies even if you do not leave the transit area at all.
