Pocket knife for left-handed people (children) for carving?
My youngest child wants a pocket knife he can use for carving, like his siblings have. (We're big fans of the Opinell.) Unfortunately, I can't find a left-handed version. I've been searching for what feels like forever for a left-handed pocket knife that's also suitable for carving. Can anyone give me some advice?
Turning the opinel around 180 degrees in the longitudinal axis is not an option?
There are no pocket knives specially for left-handed. They are suitable for left and right.
There are knives where the blade is ground on one side.
And for example in thick Swiss pocket knives (with many tools), the blade is usually not centrally mounted. This can then also make a difference in the right/left operation.
I know. But these are tools. This is about pocket knives and then also for children. I don’t think there’s anything like that.
There is a notch to pull out the knife blade. For my son, this is on the “wrong” side, so that it always slips away. That would have to be the case for many left-handed men… That’s why I thought there should be a variant for left-handed… Too bad if it’s not.
Okay, so far I actually didn’t think…
However, there are knives that have a hole in the blade, where otherwise this notch is – and should therefore be operable on both sides.
!!!ABER!!! These knives are typically single-hand knives and are therefore subject to special regulations in the Weapons Act! Don’t just buy – inform carefully before you want to consider this.
