Why do so many people break their resolutions?

For example, I wished for a year free from social media, but a few days ago I was stupid enough to register again on Instagram and Facebook🤦🏼‍♂️. Or another example: I didn't want to impose any additional obligations on myself, but in the end I did it anyway. Well, I applied for basic security anyway.
