Converting plastic into gasoline – why environmental problems then?

Hi, I watched the first episode of the science anime Dr.Stone And it was mentioned that from a plastic lid, because it is made of polyethylene, i.e. of many ethylene molecules that form a long chain when chopped up, you can easily produce/refineries benzene, i.e. gasoline. We have such a surplus of plastic on Earth;…

Aviation material?

This question is directed at glider pilots, hobby pilots, pilots, aircraft mechanics, and designers. In aviation, the elevators and rudders of small to medium-sized aircraft are operated with steel cables. The cables used require approval as so-called flight cables. In terms of strength, steel cables can be replaced with those made of Kevlar or Spectra….

Polyethylene evaporate?

Hey, unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea about chemistry, but I'm still curious to know what happens when you heat polyethylene to around 700-800 degrees… so, at 90-100 degrees, it melts. At the temperatures just mentioned, what exactly happens? Does it evaporate, does it simply sizzle away…? I hope I have expressed myself well, thank…
