Was it because a part of Zetsu was inside him and therefore he didn't need any vital organs?

Kakashi sharingan gone forever?
During the Shinobi War, Madara took Kakashi's Sharingan and swapped it with Obito for a Rinnegan. Thus, Kakashi no longer had a Sharingan at that point, and Obito had two. How was Kakashi able to use his Sharingan later? And does it mean that when someone dies, it's deactivated forever?
