In Japan, there's a maglev train that's currently capable of reaching speeds of 603 km/h. Apparently, it's scheduled to go online in 2027 and has cost approximately USD 70 billion to build, according to my information. That sounds overwhelming. My question to you: Do you think something like this could be possible in Germany sometime…
As far as I can see, a maglev train requires many years of development and is also extremely expensive to build. But does the train really have to float, or couldn't we just run conventional express trains in vacuum tubes? It would be slower, but probably still significantly faster than without.
