Are good glider pilots also good motor aircraft pilots, and vice versa, or are the requirements of the two disciplines too different for this?

Personally, I would feel very safe in a single-engine aircraft such as a Cessna 172 if a glider pilot sat in the left seat, simply because, based on his glider experience, he would have a very good eye for suitable off-field landing sites (in case the engine should lose power).
