Deleting files in the Downloads folder, what happens to them?

hey All the stuff in my Downloads folder takes up almost 8GB That's why I wanted to delete it, but I downloaded CC stuff for Sims (which I saved in a separate folder). Will it be deleted from these folders too? And what happens to the downloaded games in the Downloads folder that I haven't…
