Is the first step (writing the cadence in a wide position) correct? If so, how do I proceed? Do I then need a four-note chord for the D7 chord? And are there any rules when it comes to rhythm, or can I create the rhythm myself?
The highlighted chord has a ninth, which is why I'm currently failing to decipher it. In jazz, this chord would make sense as an add9. But in classical, I'm not sure. Can anyone help me? THANKS 🙂

I'm writing a paper on a 16th-century Italian madrigal. One source (in English) often mentions that B-m-i is the goal of a cadence. "B" is obviously H, "mi" I know from solmization as the 3rd level.
