Is the Arabic alphabet (ABC) the same in Syrian and Egyptian? So, is the standard Arabic alphabet the same in Egypt or Syria (or other Arab countries)? Or are there other alphabets that you have to learn in addition?

I can understand where Alpha comes from. It's the first Greek letter and is also used by some animals (e.g., wolves) to designate the leader. But Sigma is the 18th Greek letter. Why that one? Logically speaking, shouldn't it be even less of a leader than Beta (the second letter)?
I consider the "Q" in our alphabet to be dispensable. Instead of Quiz, you could also write Kwiz. Or instead of Quelle, you could write Kwelle. What do you all mean?
