Initially, a so-called FKN appearance or a corresponding weapon certificate is required for the emergency signal at the top. This is not freely available in Germany without this proof.
You should look where and when you need an emergency signal. In a nature reserve where little to no people live nearby, such a signal is less and could trigger forest fires.
You can use trimmer whips or signal whips, these can help attract attention without having to apply a lot of force. It is not the best solution, but could help without putting yourself or others in danger through signal weapons. Further possibilities would be the use of a signal horn.
GPS end devices with SOS function: A very elegant option would be the use of GPS handsets that have an SMS function or even better an SOS function. This can help you quickly find your coordinates.
NICO SIGNAL is a weapon and license-free emergency signal and can also be used as a start signal generator (18+).
That’s why the NICO SIGNAL has been used so much as you don’t need any weapons or pyrograph. For transport, it must be transported in a closed container.
If you’re out of an uninhabited nature reserve, you’ll only get whistles or signal whistles if you’re actively looking for ground, but then they’re good.
If you don’t like shot signals… then just smoke pots;)
If then satellite receivers like the Inreach because smartphones do not work reliably in the botany 😉

Calling and whistling makes sense only when you are looking for ground. Here it is more sensible to whistle with a pipe. It’s difficult for rotor noise.

Each emergency signal device carried along is useful. However, I only have experiences with signal guns for civilians subject to weapons possession cards.
What comes from my experience with night vision equipment:
An IR or white light flasher can be seen with night vision devices on well 50km, which can be operated for hours.

The indicated visibility is in pure vision. With an eyeglasses visible over 50km.
Unfortunately, I cannot give you a link to the flashers used in military pilots, I am already retired.
Don’t forget to explain to the questioner that it is a signal weapon with “PTB in circle” that can only be carried with KWS. He doesn’t believe me.
