Sun tunnel effect?
Hello folks.
The sun has extremely high temperatures (5 million ⁰C) and high pressure.
It is said that only nuclear fusion takes place in the sun because these values are so extreme.
But are these values sufficient for nuclei to fuse in the sun at all?
Or is any fusion only possible through the tunneling effect, which occurs when there is a low probability of positive hydrogen nuclei repelling each other?
MY QUESTION:
If the heat (kinetic energy) of the nuclei in the sun is sufficient to overcome the potential barrier that arises because like-charged hydrogen nuclei repel each other, and the fusion rate is further increased by the tunnel effect,

Is the heat and pressure of the sun not enough to make fusion possible at all, and is the tunneling effect necessary for every fusion in the sun?
(If the second is correct, we would have learned it incorrectly or inaccurately/simplified in school)

because the speeds of the particles in a gas follow a distribution, which shifts more to higher speeds for higher temperatures, but always allows speeds which are as small and as large as desired.
at room temperature it is very rare that two protons meet with enough energy, but impossible it is not.
the question would therefore be much more whether the probability and thus the frequentity for such a reaction under the conditions in a star are sufficient to maintain a stable fusion which causes sufficient heat development and counteracts the gravity pressure.

So the tunnel effect is not a prerequisite for a fusion in itself, but for a stable in our measure.
