Studying despite having a child?

Hello, I'm 19 and my girlfriend is pregnant. I'm currently in a commercial apprenticeship and earn about €850 net. I'm completely unhappy with my apprenticeship and wanted to enroll in a degree program in educational sciences (summer semester next year).

Now my girlfriend has unexpectedly become pregnant, and I'm worried that going to university might not be such a smart idea anymore. She's currently finishing her A-levels and would be entitled to €1,329 (including child support). If I were to quit my training, I would have no income and wouldn't know if I could manage a life of three in my own apartment.

Could someone please help me and maybe give me some tips or tell me if studying is still feasible? I would be truly grateful for any answers 🙏🏼

Heii duu,

I am also 19 and (planned) pregnant!

&’ I have to say that a baby is anything but cheap (always the purchase) :/

My friend deserves about. 1850€ net and I have earned 1000€ until recently (currently only 645€), of which my friend and I have given 400€ each and still had some difficulty creating everything:/

&’ If you want to study, then you have to first see that you are financially insured, say offices, etc.

That’s what’s going on with a kid – don’t let you fuck your dreams.

If you’re studying, you can’t be financially supportive, then she’ll have to apply for ALG II and the child’s support.

Yes, I logically had no money or other income as a studying mother. 🤔

You’re sure Bafög will be there if you don’t have income. I would finish my education and study only then. By the way, after completing the training, you are also independent of the parents.

Who says you can only work on 450€ basis? Such a cheese. You can also work normally as a student, some universities even offer part-time study places or you immatrikulatierst at a distance university. Where a will is, there is also a way.

But you also know that you can work alongside your studies? That’s why I’m staying with you.

You don’t miss training and, as I said, you’re at the Bafög regardless of your parents!

If you can’t afford the Kita, there’s support. There is support for everything.

Go to the Pregnant Conflict Consultancy, there you will get all the necessary information, including the funds you have received.
