Studying computer science but poor mathematical understanding. Any tips?
Hi, I'm currently studying Medical Informatics. For those unfamiliar with the course, it's basically computer science with a focus on/specialization in medicine (medical systems, e.g., for data acquisition and analysis, medical devices, and possibilities for the further development of these things). I'm very interested in computer science and medicine, but my problem is that, ever since about 10th grade, when the more difficult topics slowly began to emerge, I've noticed that I generally don't have a very good aptitude for mathematical understanding. It's not a lack of knowledge (I even got 10 points in my A-levels after putting in a lot of effort, even though I was pretty bad before that), but rather that I simply can't figure out certain connections or conclusions on my own to understand problems, or I simply lack the understanding when the professor or former teacher explains them. So far, I've tried to compensate for this with intensive revision when necessary, but does anyone have any tips on how to gain a better understanding of mathematical relationships in general so that I can actually understand what the professor is saying in lectures? 😅 Thanks
It might help you deal with the origin of the formulas, so when you use these formulas for what in reality and what they developed, because if you understand the connection of the basic system you can also understand the rest better.
Or you just need people to explain it better.
Try to establish your own relationships. The technical words sometimes do not help our own mind to understand.
I can recommend the book “Fit for Mathematics Studies”. As a reference work and for refreshing. Find Amazon and bookstore.
