Studying civil engineering or architecture – which is faster?

Hello Community,

Which of the above-mentioned courses can (in practice) be completed more quickly (at most within the standard period of study), and which is less time-consuming?

This question is probably difficult to answer, as you may only know your own degree program and it is difficult to compare it with a related degree program.

I am a draftsman with professional experience and can imagine myself choosing both courses of study, as I feel comfortable in both the field of architecture and in the field of structural engineering (thermal insulation, sound insulation, drainage calculations).

It's simply about achieving a higher qualification, so I'm open to both of the above-mentioned degree programs. And from an economic perspective: The cost/benefit ratio definitely plays a role in the choice.

I'm looking forward to your answers, tips, and experiences.

Moin,

Too good first: As a civil engineer, you’ll earn better than an architect. So there is more to compare than just the duration of the study.

The Standard Architecture Bachelor will have 6 semesters. Masters are usually 2 to 4 semesters. And only then do you have the conditions to be included in an architectural chamber. At least you will have to invest 4 years. However, the study is very time-consuming in places, but otherwise one is very free in time division. Working alongside is definitely feasible.

As a civil engineer, you are usually employed for the Bachelor 7 semesters. For the Master again 4 semesters. That’ll take 5 1/2 years. But as I said, you will earn better. The study is also more a continuous time investment, and less on and off. But here, too, this is possible in addition to studying.

Greetings
