Study break for another course of study?
Good evening,
About me as a person: I'm 25 years old and in my 8th semester of studying civil engineering and I'm currently doubting whether it's the right thing for me. My health isn't good at the moment and I've noticed that studying is not only taking a toll on me mentally but also physically. Back in school I often had self-harming behavior problems and I noticed that I started doing it again a few weeks ago. I'm only studying because of my parents, as they are engineers themselves, even though I'm not interested in the course at all. As I've already completed over half the modules, it would be sad if I gave up, so I thought I'd take a break and study archaeology, because that's what I've always wanted to do. As soon as I've done that, I'll either continue studying civil engineering or drop out completely. Now the real question: Am I stupid? Please only rational answers, I urgently need some friendly advice because I don't have anyone who listens to me or is there for me. (I will continue to pay the tuition fees throughout the entire period so that I can possibly continue studying civil engineering without losing the modules)
I would be very happy about your answers
have a nice evening 🙂
Friendship: bad plan!
Because even if you complete archaeology studies, the chance that you get a job is very, very bad, because you don’t need it in masses.
However, if you are rich and do not need a job, you can naturally study what you want.
Unfortunately, you’ve been too old and too advanced to think about a long time.
Therefore, my advice would be: eyes to and as quickly as possible, because you do not seem to be very unsuitable.
Generally, it’s your decision what you’re studying and that should not only be done on your parents’ request. In general, we do not need any information that is of no interest in this profession. So if your desired study is architecture, you should do that. Subjects that are required in both courses and that you have already completed can be calculated by the way and do not have to start at 0.
But I don’t know if you can only pause your studies. Generally, however, it should be possible to be able to recalculate already existing modules later…
He wants to make archaeology.
Archaeology?
Do you really think there’s less stress?
Other proposal:
Take a holiday semester. Look at archaeology lectures – the reality is often devouring a lot.
Because of your age, I’d advise you to finish your studies or to break down completely and make an education.
Have already completed training, but thank you
Ah, okay, that also changes the thing with your age – very good that you already have a training – then I would guess to go on, you already have more than half – but if you were mentally so burdened, then I would break off.
You’re 25, you should come to a conclusion and make money, you’re sure you want to get a pension.
I have a completed training
