Generating electricity from space?

Have you ever considered generating electricity in space? Space stations are powered by solar cells.

But wouldn't it be possible to capture the sun's rays using parabolic mirrors and direct them to a certain point on Earth, similar to a satellite?

Good idea – but actually it is not necessary. On Earth, in a three-quarter hour, as much energy comes from the sun as all humanity needs in a year. But to the consideration with the mirrors: This consideration actually existed – not to generate electricity, but to provide regions – I believe in Siberia – with light in the polar winter when it is dark for months. But that was never realized.
