Streamers: role models or exploiters?

I'm now confused by the whole stream thing. I can't imagine that so many people decide to donate their hard-earned money to streamers like Montanablack, Trymacs, Eligella, etc. every day. Likewise, I can't fathom that an average of 40,000 people watch these streamers as they babble senselessly on camera, burp, and fart, or take advantage of other people's content by silently "reacting" to a video, ideally uploading it to YouTube as a "reaction," and making a killing doing so.

What confuses me most is how easy it is to entertain these people? It can't be possible to spend eight hours a day watching someone who, in my opinion, is a complete asshole. I mean Montanablack88. As I said, the guy is the lowest of the low, in my eyes – a typical Harzer. He burps, farts, and swings his 35-year-old butt in front of the camera to entertain his 13-year-old viewers. He's said things so many times that you just shouldn't say and has just made a lot of stupid mistakes, but every time he admits his mistakes and shows how "grown-up" he really is. It's best when he gives some "real talk" every one or two months, offering, quite frankly, helpful/wise advice. The only problem is that he says the same thing every time: some emotionally contrived nonsense that's then dismissed as incredibly wise.

I understand that viewers identify with streamers. They see them as friends or role models. When they donate to streamers, they feel like part of a community. I also understand that viewers feel entertained. They enjoy watching streamers play, talk, or just fool around in front of the camera.

But I find it strange that so many people are willing to donate their money to streamers who aren't necessarily putting in much effort. I wish streamers would simply treat their fans more maturely. They make it all too easy for 12-year-olds to donate money, but that's exactly what they want. Take this Montanablack88, for example: He once received a 500 euro donation and responded with "Kiss, dude." People find it funny, but for me, as a viewer, that would be a huge reason to immediately turn off the channel and cancel my subscription. Because that would make me realize how worthless this person's money is.

I find it especially embarrassing when streamers exploit young viewers. They know they're easily influenced and that they'll give them money if they just give them a little attention. It's just not fair.

I wish streamers would be aware of their responsibility. They should consider what they want to achieve with their reach. Do they just want to make money, or do they also want to have a positive impact?

I think streamers should also be role models for their viewers. They should show them how to behave respectfully and maturely. If they do that, they will also receive more respect from their viewers.

I seriously doubt the success of these "content creators." I believe they will only be successful as long as there are enough gullible people willing to waste their money on them. I hope that will change at some point, and that people start to think more about how they spend their money.

Too long.

In short, if people are talking about it, it doesn’t matter what is required.

Donations etc are also voluntary

You should differentiate before you shoot all streamers. Streamer is not the same streamer. In contrast to MontanaBlack, for example, there are YouTubers/“Streamer” like Robert Marc Lehmann, who, in addition to their main profession (with him marine biologists, environmentalists, filmmakers and photographers), also stream and use the donations for good purposes.

And even if there are people watching the streamers for 8 hours while talking, it’s their own choice. Just like donating.
