Connect Strato domain to WordPress?

I secured a domain through Strato and got a WordPress account. However, WordPress doesn't recognize my domain; instead, I'm prompted to order a new one. How can I connect the domain to WordPress?

Change name server settings
Set up WordPress Site
Connect WordPress Site
Check DNS settings

It doesn't really help me. Under normal circumstances, I should be able to select the domain at the beginning of the WordPress configuration. However, I do not want to do any unnecessary technical effort to deal with a problem that actually seems trivial. I should choose a domain at WordPress, I have one, so I should be able to choose it as well.

Theoretically yes, provided that the DNS entries at Strato refer to the webspace where WordPress lies.
