Story in view protagonist, how do I quickly change view without any hassle?
In a story I'm writing, I want to write a memoir from the perspective of a minor character, but I don't know how or if I can change the perspective. I find a diary as a possible escape route (in the story) too shallow? Do you have any suggestions?
You can write in the third person, then you can “switch” easier. You can do this within a scene without one of these PoV: Character A to have headlines. To demonstrate this:
A broad grin on Chara As’s face. The situation was just too amusing to stay serious. Only with effort, she held back a loud laugh. Like old times. Even then, they could always laugh together. Chara B also smiled, but with him joy was no more than a coveted facade. Inside, he still felt as smart as in the last few weeks. All the jokes could not change that he lost his beloved pet. He had always been so suspicious for Chara B when there was no one else. But now…
Of course, you can do that either as an auktorial narrative, or as a personal one that changes between people.
I hope that will help you:)
In my books, I usually write from the me perspective. I’ve always been told that you know there’s a happy end, or the character can only die in the end. No, I didn’t want to sit on me like that.
My prota dies, for example, in a chapter, but the book does not just end with her death. The next chapters are then written from the perspective of another character.
So you can change the view in chapters, or even in the middle with a paragraph, which can also quickly lead to confusion. I would change it by chapter and then specify the character with name.
About this:
Chapter 3 – Maik – the grotto of death
And if you want to change again:
Chapter 35 – Sarah – The last breath
But I find this switch between perspective extremely annoying
If you find it annoying, you shouldn’t apply it.
So I personally write a story in the perspective of the protagonist and if I want to change the perspective, I write the name of the one from whose perspective I want to write, in capital letters about the text with the perspective of this character. When the text is over, I write the name of the protagonist in capital letters. Then everything is from the perspective of the protagonist. I hope that will help you:)
Either you start a new chapter that is told from the point of view of character, or you do a new paragraph and write on. I don’t think of another method.
