Store manager at Aldi?

Hello,

I grew up in Germany and trained in retail, but dropped out of my retail training because I'm from the US and have returned to the US.

I'd like to work in retail again, and my two favorites are Aldi and Lidl. I worked in the US grocery retail industry and have now gained another 20 years of experience. But that was US experience. I manage up to 150 employees.

My research has raised a question. When I was training (in the late 80s), I was a jack of all trades. Today, it seems as if all jobs in a store are divided into different departments? Cashiers, packers, substitutes, and so on.

Storing goods and ordering and so on should be given as a branch manager.

  1. I specifically wanted to know if the branch manager also sits at the cash register?
  2. What are the chances of getting hired at Aldi or Lidl at age 53? As a store manager, with plenty of experience as mentioned above, but no completed retail training?
  3. Do branch managers really only work 40 hours a week (38.5/37.5)? I think that to be a good branch manager, you have to work a lot more.
  4. Are branch managers also paid for overtime?

Thanks for all constructive answers and insight

Today it looks like all jobs are divided into a branch? Cashiers, unpacking forces, representative forces and so on.

In the Aldi branches I'm looking for, everyone does everything. The branch manager sits at the checkout when necessary.

I think you have to work a lot more than a good branch manager.

A branch manager also has an employment contract that should be adhered to.
