Stopping the pill: what to consider and what alternatives?

Hello everyone,

After much thought, I'm now certain that I don't want to take the pill anymore. I've been taking it for three years now, and unfortunately, I suffer from severe mood swings. I'm often sad for no reason, and the risk of thrombosis is a thorn in my side.
But now I've heard that many people have had problems with their skin and their hair has become very thin.

Does anyone have any experience in this topic that they would like to share with me?
I'm also looking for a hormone-free alternative, perhaps the copper chain. Does anyone have experience with this? 🙂 Especially with regard to slippage, finding the right doctor, and using it.

Thank you!

I really got pimples after putting the pill off. That took a little while, but then it also normalized itself!

With hormone-free contraception methods I have no experiences and now take a pill without estrogens, only with gestagen.

The first six months after the decommissioning were crazy. My skin was a catastrophe, the hairs have fancy me, the bleeding is painful and unreasonable, I have taken off and I was much better.

Skin, hair and bleeding have normalized.

I’m protecting copper.

Three weeks after decommissioning, I smelled and was quite wild. (the pill has somehow suppressed my interest in men and my libido)

With my knowledge today, I would never take it again.

Skin and hair moderately I have zero problems, but shortly after putting off the pill I also started to take very good supps 🙂

Of course I’m protecting (circle) and that works wonderfully. I finally feel my body right!

So after 3 years, your risk of thrombosis is again almost as low as without pill, which is increased especially in the first 3-6 months.

if the stimmuns fluctuations really come from the pill, you should talk to your FA and test another. Copper spirals/chains lead to increased bleeding and more pain. If you had more pimples before the pill they will come back

I put the pill in June, and that in agreement with my gyn also very spontaneously. NI had no effect.

In the meantime, I’m protecting condoms, sometimes only by orientation on my cycle.

Hey, you,

So personally, I have no experience with it now. I’ve been taking the pill for three years, but I don’t want to drop it.

Every body reacts differently, you know that. It could be that in the first months or weeks your hormone balance gets a bit messed up. That’s normal, and you don’t have to worry about it.

I’d go to the women’s doctor in your place and let that go. He can tell you about the risks and maybe give you tips on how to put the pill off.

Don’t do it at all without the confirmation of the female doctor.

There’s nothing going to happen.

And regarding an alternative – you should also consult your female doctor.

Thank you very much
