Is it true that you can't have any at Christmas?

"Hello, I wanted to ask if it's true that you're not allowed to eat meat on Christmas Day—not even for lunch, but rather wait until the evening for the main course. I'm from Poland, my family is very religious, and they told me this. I wanted to ask if that's true or why they think so. Thank you for your answers, and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

The Advent season used to be a Lent. By fasting one has prepared for the great feast. And the Advent season goes until 24.12., 18:00.

This has been completely forgotten, today the whole Advent season is being smashed…

I assume this Lent is the origin of the custom you know. We are on 24.12. for lunch just a little, a little bit or something, because we have a feastboard in the evening.

It is not a religious rule, but can be regional customs!

However, it was not uncommon to eat little before the feast in short periods to preserve the hunger for the great food.

No, that’s definitely not true, never heard of that, especially not with us in Bavaria.

Sorry, but that’s bullshit. Just Christmas is full of meat. We always ate meat.

Eating has nothing to do with religion and faith!

Jesus said, What enters man does not make him unclean. What comes out of man!

he probably meant a car-free day you can’t eat meat,

even though this is not quite true, as you should eat fish there

Ultimately, everyone makes their own rules. There is no general ban on meat for Christmas.
