Transfer SSD from old PC to another?

Good day!

A few days ago my laptop completely broke – a total loss.

Now I've at least saved the SSD with my data. Can I plug it into the second SSD slot in my PC without any problems, or will something else complain, since the laptop's SSD still had Windows installed?

Best regards!

The different Windows installation could actually be a problem because the system installed on the SSD is looking for the hardware of the broken computer. It can work, but it would be easier to copy only the data. Of course, you can install the SSD, but start from your normal record in the PC.

On Windows, the SSD should be found and you can backup your most important data there.

If you want to start the installed Windows, don’t talk about trying it and placing the boot order on the SSD in the UEFI, worse than a simple error message it can’t run.

Hello,

that should fit. In the worst case, simply change the boot order in BIOS.

that works, can be once you have to change the boot order.

but otherwise no ding goes with windows as a normal plate.

(the change is in the bios, where a list with hard disk is, your normal start plate must be on place one, bios starts before windows)

Can’t you just dump the “no longer IDE plates” when the laptop is already running?

ADAPTER from USB to SATA does not cost a fortune, so you can transfer your data from SSD to PC without using SSD IN to PC.
