SSD write cache setting?

Today I downloaded a game from Steam onto my SSD and it completely slowed down my entire PC. Then I unplugged it and everything worked again. So I wanted to see if the SSD itself was slow and what was wrong with it. It was actually slow, it's a SanDisk Extreme 55ae SCSI, it should run at around 500 MB/s, but it doesn't, it's around 41 MB/s, so I experimented to find out why that was and then selected better performance (plot twist didn't give me any better performance, it didn't do anything at all), so I wanted to turn it off again and now I'm being told that it's not possible on this device. Great joke because the

The setting wasn't on a second ago.

What do I do at such a point?

How did you measure the data throughput? I’m loading over heise.de crystaldiskmark and I read it running. I have the exact throughput data.

And: It can also be on your entire debit. Not only on the SSD. If your SSD is so bad, I’d check it on another PC if that’s possible. Then you have comparison options and can exclude the SSD or your PC.
