SSD not showing up in BIOS?
Good day,
I am Ben and I am 14 years old and
I have the following problem. I want to move Windows from my slower HDD to the faster SSD. However, I'm encountering the following issue: my Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2 Gaming Solid SSD isn't showing up in the BIOS. There's nothing in the two M.2 slots, but it works because it's shown in Explorer and I use it. This problem is really annoying me, and I'd appreciate any help. I've heard it could be something PCIe-related or something? I don't know, and I'd appreciate a good explanation/help. I have the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus motherboard. I also have a Toshiba HDD, but as I said, it's very slow.
Best regards
Ben
So the easiest way is to boot an operating system live via the USB stick. This is, for example, quite simple. Ubuntu. You can then use the hard drive gdisk dump (or if you like the CLI more) dd) simply clone on the new hard drive. You also circumvent the “recognising problem”.
So I don’t need to worry about the detection problem anymore? Of course, that would be best. And how exactly is this going?
Jop, the problem would be solved. You work out from the operating system. The Ubuntu is running on the USB and can easily clone the other hard disk.
Simply read the instructions I have linked to you for the exact functioning. Alternatively, there are also great YouTube videos. An explanation in the comment columns would be a little complicated.
So I’m gonna get UBUNTU down on a stick and run it out. While the stick is in the pc. Then I’ll download the other program and run the HDD to the SSD. And then the Pc always starts from the SSD and I have to remove the stick etc. Do you have some time to explain this to me with a step by step guide or something? I think I would help
No. You can run the Ubuntu from the USB stick at the moment. That’s exactly what the point is: you can even completely clone the hard drive.
No, I’m not getting a good video on it.
But do I change permanently to another operating system? Or just to clone Windows or how. I don’t understand. So if I understood it correctly. I’ll load it down and then knock it over the other Windows software and, like I’ll tell the Pc, that’s what he’s supposed to do from the ssd boats. Do you know a good tutorial otherwise?
Ubuntu is another operating system. Cloning is done with the above software. Either over the CLI with dd or with GUI over gdiskdump. If you are not sure what you do, you should watch a YouTube video or an accurate guide.
So I’ll download Ubuntu, put it on a USB stick put the stick somewhere in the pc and then execute it. What happens then?
Okay, thank you.
