SSD m2 adapter?
Hello, is there an SSD m2 adapter where you can connect two or three instead of one
Hello, is there an SSD m2 adapter where you can connect two or three instead of one
The following problem, my old PC always shows after the Windows 10 automatic diagnosis and repair that it cannot be started correctly, since I can no longer get it to start, I have to somehow get all the data and programs that are on the hard drive onto the new laptop and if possible so…
Hello, I was foolishly playing around with my PC today and accidentally removed the access rights for the user System, that was something like this Local Disk>Properties>Security>SYSTEM>Deny all Does anyone know how to undo this? Every time I press the local disk, I get the message (c cannot be accessed). I have Windows 10 Could…
Is the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD or the WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD better suited for the PS5?
Hello, I have a Windows 10 To Go USB drive, but my PC's SSD has Windows 11 installed. Can I still access programs running on the SSD with Windows 11? Or do I have to reset my PC to Windows 10 first? Can I even access files on my SSD via Windows To Go?
Which program tells the truth? I've also installed a heatsink on the SSD. Flight Simulator 2020 is currently running.
Hello, I've had a small Unraid server for about two days now, which currently has an 8TB hard drive. I've also managed to connect a network drive to my home network via SMB/Samba. Now I want to share the server with other people, the server already has a public IP (you can access it from…
Hello
There are different M.2 SSD adapters. I guess you have the intention to put several M.2 PCIe SSD’s on the motherboard and now you’re looking for a multiple PCIe -> M.2 PCIe SSD adapter because your motherboard has only one M.2 slot.
If so, your project will not work. For a multiple adapter you need a PCIe x8/x16 slot, which must also be connected with 8 or 16 PCIe Lanes. And this is only the first PCIe 3.0 x16 slot on your motherboard. If there is no graphics card in it, you can use a PCIe -> M.2 PCIe SSD easily, twice or four times adapter and use up to 2 or 4 more M.2 PCIe SSD’s, but no more graphics card.
PCIe 3.0 x8 -> 2x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD Adapter
PCIe 3.0 x16 -> 4x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD Adapter
The 8 and 16 PCIe 3.0 Lanes of PCIe 3.0 x16 Slots are divided into 2x or 4x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots. Therefore, up to 2 or 4 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD’s can be used there.
The second PCIe x16 slot on your B450 motherboard is just a PCIe 2.0 x16@x4 slot. This means that this PCIe x16 slot is only connected with 4 PCIe 2.0 Lanes from the B450 chip. There you can only one PCIe x4 -> 1x M.2 PCIe x4 adapters, no more. In this case, only a single M.2 PCIe SSD can be used on a double or four-fold adapter. The remaining M.2 slots on such an adapter remain deactivated when such an adapter is inserted in the second PCIe 2.0×16@x4 slot. Therefore, you can make use of the following adapters:
PCIe 3.0 x4 -> 1x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD Adapter
However, M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD’s then only run at a maximum of 2000MB/s, since the adapter is in a PCIe 2.0 slot, so the maximum PCIe 2.0 x4 speed is available.
And then you have a PCIe 2.0 x1 slot. There you can use an M.2 PCIe SSD with a PCIe x1 -> M.2 PCIe SSD adapter:
PCIe 3.0 x1 -> 1x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x2/x4 SSD Adapter
However, an M.2 PCIe x2/x4 SSD, in the PCIe 2.0 x1 slot of your B450 board, is only connected to a single PCIe 2.0 Lane, which results in only PCIe 2.0 x1 speed available in this adapter, which corresponds to a maximum of 500MB/s and which would be slower than SATA 600 speed. A M.2 PCIe SSD is fully braked.
M.2 SATA SSD’s do not work in these PCIe -> M.2 PCIe SSD adapters. For this we need another adapter.

Yes I have stuck a graphics card in the first PCI Express GeForce GTX 1050 ti 4 GB there is another solution for a SSD since my SSD m2 has only 256 GB and is completely full I have already looked what I don’t need anymore is still very full and these are games I mainly do. Ken them a page on the internet where I can buy cheap a SSD hard drive 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch as other alternative.
Then simply take a PCIe 3.0 x4 -> 1x M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 adapter and then set a corresponding M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD. It then runs in the second PCIe x16 slot only in PCIe 2.0 mode, but up to 2000MB/s should be enough, with 1600-1800MB/s likely to be more realistic. It’s faster than SATA.
However, you should also consider replacing the 256GB SSD completely to have enough space for Windows and your games. Then you don’t have to pay attention to what you’re going to install.
Buy M.2 PCIe SSD’s or 2.5″ SATA SSD’s at Mindfactory, Alternate, eBay & Co.
