Split ends in horses?

Hi folks!

While brushing his tail today, I noticed some of the hairs splitting. To me, it looks like split ends.

Can horses get split ends? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Have a nice evening❤

Hey, you,

Sure, horses can also have a kind of split ends if you want to call it that. So, when you brush the tail, you discovered some hair that splits? It's like the split ends with us people, just with the fluffy four-legged friends. ^^

If the hair is damaged by various influences such as sun, wind, friction or just everyday adventures, they can split. This looks like small forks in the hair, just like with us when our hair is splicing.

It can happen that the hair is no longer so smooth and silky when they split. But don't worry, it's not a world fall. Regular brushing and care can really help protect the hair and keep the problem in check.

So, no need to panic. Your fluffy friend can run around with split hair. But if you care, you can still talk to your veterinarian or professional from the riding stable. They know how to get the hair back in top shape.

Have a cozy evening with your horse and take care of the fluffy silence. 🐴

As long as it keeps within limits and really occurs at the "lower end", this is harmless.

If you have a lot of shattered hair, then the horse is shy and then you should look more closely.
