IUD slipped or what exactly is that?

Hello folks,

I had sex with my boyfriend the day before yesterday.

I'm also on my period and have had the copper IUD for about two weeks. Ever since we had sex, I've had a strange feeling in my stomach. It pricks when I sit down. I've felt the threads, and everything seems to be fine.

I have to wait until tomorrow because of a gynecologist. Is it a big deal if it slips out of place?

I'm so scared of it. My stomach also tightens up from time to time, but it could also be due to my period.

Can it be very serious? Can you bleed internally if the IUD slips out of place? Or is it perhaps an infection?

“In the case of around 5%Usersa spiral it happens that theSpiralchanges their position over time andslipping. Especially in the first months afterCreatingthere is this risk. When it comes to this, the copper spiral usually slides into the cervical neck channel or it slips completely out of the uterus. If the copper spiral is slipped, itsEffectivenessbe restricted as contraceptives. A misposition of the spiral is the most common reason for the occurrence of an unwanted pregnancy with this otherwise highly reliable method of contraception.

In most cases, the spiral slips during the control bleeding. This leads to the fact that the uterus tries to get rid of the copper spiral as a foreign body by strong contractions. Often it isPainaccompanied when the copper spiral changes its position. However, it also happens that the copper spiral is partially or completely ejected without being noticed as a woman.

A slipping of theCopper chainAs an alternative to copper spiral, however, is theoretically not possible. The copper chain has a knot at its upper end. This knot acts like an anchor and is pushed into the upper muscle of the uterus and thus allows a secure hold. This is also the reason why the copper chain is less likely to eject than with the classic copper spiral.

Whether the copper chain or the copper spiral is still correctly in the uterus should be controlled by ultrasound once a half year with the female physician. In the event of a doubt, the woman can feel the thread with clean fingers, which in most cases protrudes from the mother’s mouth a small piece.”

If the spiral is slipped, the prevention protection is no longer guaranteed. Now you have your days, so the likelihood is even if you shouldn’t have kept it too high. Inflammation could be, internal bleeding is usually not possible. You’d notice it on the thread if it’s slipped very far (because it’s longer). Was it used as emergency prevention or why outside your period?

A slipping is usually not bad, but also prevent condoms (which you hope will do until after-control)
