Play instinct!?
Hello, I have a dog who only wants to play. Extremely so, with toys, wood, and even stones. The worst thing is that he puts them at everyone's feet and then runs after people who are playing with him! I've tried everything possible before he has to live on a chain or in a kennel. Please, does anyone have any good advice?
on the chain is forbidden. In the kennel, also not nearly dog-friendly. There seems to be a lot going wrong in the attitude when the guy is behaving so much attention and action.
I know everything it wouldn’t be dog-friendly. Will and I won’t do either. I just wanted to point out the urgency. Yes guess what went wrong, got this dog only at 2 years and after all the attempts to “bessern” I’m totally futile.
A dog of 8 years should not be so hyperactive anymore. From to the veterinarian, large blood count and complete thyroid profile (all 8 values) at the same time.
I tap either a thyroid hyperfunction or a subclinical thyroid subfunction. Both dogs are completely overwhelmed.
Thank you
Sure. I’ve been living with me like that. I know how it is. My female has two thyroid diseases.
Make sure that all 8 values for the thyroid are taken, at the same time with the large blood count. Most veterinarians take only 2-3 values and this is not meaningful enough. If you are barfen, it also needs selenium, iodine and zinc to assess the values.
And note:
Even if all values are in the reference range, your dog can have a problem! The reference area is not necessarily super meaningful in relation to the thyroid gland in the dog, simply because dogs are so enormously different in size, weight, gender, with or without castration, etc.
Turn to this woman with the results and a detailed description of the behavior of your dog and what you have already tried to get the dog down from his drive: Christiane Wergowski
She is veterinarian and dog trainer with specialization on the thyroid gland and the associated behavior and has helped us and also some customers of me immensely. I have a completely different dog.
I am happy to answer any questions.
Then do your dog work reasonable?
What are you doing to throw things out?
Sounds to me like this dog is extremely bored and underwhelmed
My dog is with me on the mountain pasture and has got work on the animals. I walk with him for hours and don’t make him tired or quiet. He could play 24 hours around the clock.
What’s that dog and how old?
Bordercollie, 8 years. I’ve had dogs for over 30 years, only this one gives me a riddle. Maybe I am too old for this dog
So with eight years, the dog should be a little quieter. Let him check it out. Tag: thyroid. Hyperactivity can also occur in an overfunction.
You should also check the feeding.
Sometimes it also helps to drive down the activities and to introduce rest periods. A dog that is constantly under electricity pours out adrenaline. And this also ensures hyperactivity and that the dog is no longer resting

Thanks for the advice, I will.
Your dog has too little work and tries to get rid of his energy. I hope you don’t mean anything serious. That would be totally counterproductive…
Also have a 2 dog, they also play together the 2. is quiet and balanced. 🤷 As already written, we are on the mountain pasture and have work and go hiking. Of course also games time.
