I found an extremely cool and exciting horror game on Steam that's still fairly new. Unfortunately, it's only available in English so far. This is the developers' first game, and I wanted to contact them to ask if I should translate it into German. Life is Strange, for example, was (I think!) only translated by fans. Do you think I should do that? For free, of course.

Unprobably. Inquiries for official translations are usually ignored and fan patches exist, but the groups are more likely to do what they want to translate and not what anyone suggests.
If the programming has already begun, that multilingualism should be present, then you may run open doors.
If they didn’t, you won’t have a chance. The program maintenance effort would be too high in two or more languages.
