Speed Home Wifi only 1 user – can the repeater be used as a WiFi base?
Hello. I have a Speedport 4 router (2.4 and 5 GHz) and a Speed Home WiFi Repeater connected right next to it, and I've set everything up as described in the manual. Everything's working fine so far.
My problem is that my devices almost exclusively connect to the router, but not to the repeater, which is closer. Only my TV often connects to the repeater. I would now like to use only the repeater's Wi-Fi and disable the router's Wi-Fi. Is that possible?
I connected the Speed Home to the router via a LAN cable, and everything is displayed correctly and green. The router and repeater have different SSIDs; both are lit green, and all Wi-Fi devices have access.
Then you can select in the terminal where you want to login 🤷 ♂️
Not at all. The 2 SSIDs are displayed by the router, but not by the Speed Home 😐
Huh?
If SSiD is router 1234567 and the repeater is the SSiD 99999999, you connect your device to 9999999 to connect it to the repeater.
I meant that for example, in my phone the 2.4 and 5 GHz SSiD will be displayed but not the repeater.
Hello,
I’m also wondering why you set the repeater so close to the routers. He can’t do his function as a WLAN amplifier. ;
I would see if the repeater can be positioned elsewhere.
To your question: You can turn off the Wi-Fi of the Speedport router via the configuration menu.
After you have deactivated the WLAN of the router, your terminals will only connect to the Speed Home WiFi Repeater, which is connected to the router via LAN cable.
But as I said, I would look for a better position for the repeater. I have the better solution. :

Unfortunately, it cannot be solved otherwise. The router stands in the hallway, in front of the stairs leading into the basement, in a large wooden cabinet on the wall. The repeater is attached to the wall one meter next to the wall as I want to bypass the Storungsquelle cabinet. If I put the repeater even further away from the router and closer to the basement, I believe the repeater would have worse reception, but also the cables are not long enough. It’s a little tricky. The problem is that the Speed Home is not even displayed in the Wlan network, but only the router with 2.4 and 5 GHz.
I almost want to say that my heart bleeds – the router is in a closet? Better on the closet. Because the router should be as free as possible and at least one meter height. And so you also surround sources of disturbance, such as all people who walk past the closet. ;
My guess is that you can make as now as you want – as long as the router remains in the closet, you will not achieve great success.

Then the position of the repeater still does not seem to be optimal.
Generally speaking, the repeater should be positioned halfway.
If the signal strength of the terminals to the router is above 72%, they will continue to connect to the router.

Achja, the repeater has 72% signal strength to the router in the basement, which should be completely sufficient.
Can I offer you a bee Maja paving for your bloody heart? ☺️
So I at least managed to put the router on a dresser a few centimeters before. Disadvantage is only: looks like shit and still further away from the closet, does not go because then it is in the way, since the stairs lead into the basement.
I have now also connected the repeater to the basement room, where it is almost next to the TV and the Playsi. The repeater is therefore about 5 meters away from the router. Only the TV, the Playsi and my phone, when I sit in the basement, still connect with the router and not with the repeater, which is one and a half meter next to it…
