Special termination of internet contract?
I just signed up with Vodafone. Before that, it was through my mother.
For the past two weeks, I've been having serious internet problems with my Fritz!Box despite having a Gbit connection.
After exactly 14 calls and five technician visits, they determined that the line was overloaded and needed to be rerouted. The repair would take one to two years from start to finish. Of course, I don't have time for that. I work part-time from home and would also like to play online games on the side. That's what I'm paying for.
Is a special termination possible?
Hello.
If the line does not deliver the performance agreed upon in the contract and this is a permanent condition and not just an occasional occurrence, you can indeed terminate the contract, as far as I know.
See Section 57 Paragraph 4 Sentence 1 No. 1 of the Telecommunications Act (TKG).
The problem is, if it's the line, how would a different contract help you? Do you have any alternatives?
Ja stimmt. Die Leitung bleibt ja die gleiche. Das ist jetzt natürlich ein riesen großes Problem. Was meinst mit “Alternativen”?
Well, by alternatives, I mean that it won't get any better if you switch to another provider… You could still order internet via satellite or something like that, but besides the high costs, that's hardly suitable for gaming.
I'll have to ask, but thanks.
Well, they're profit-oriented companies whose investments are compared with a demand analysis. Apparently, actual demand has deviated significantly from the target demand.
Nevertheless, you can only blame them to a limited extent. If they subsequently invest millions and it doesn't pay off, everyone complains about why the costs for their connection are rising because they have to recoup the investment sums in other ways.
I would email Vodafone and Telekom, explain the problem, and ask what alternatives they can offer you.
At the very least, they should have more know-how and be able to recommend the best alternatives.
Telekom has (or had) a hybrid technology where part of the service is delivered via cable and part via radio. Something like that might work.
Ja, bin am Arsch jetzt. Toll. Dass es sowas in 2024 noch gibt….
